March 27, 2015: Xiamen Airlines launched its official partnership with the Total BWF World Championships in Jakarta with a range of travel packages to entice more badminton fans to attend the BWF Major Event in August.

Xiamen Airlines is the official airline partner for the World Championships and announced plans to introduce travel packages for the tournament during the partnership signing ceremony with the Badminton World Federation (BWF) in China.

Zhao Dong, Deputy General Manager of Xiamen Airlines, said: “This strategic partnership brings the best resources of both BWF and Xiamen Airlines together in achieving their respective ambitions of getting more people to play and watch badminton, and having more passengers on board Xiamen Airlines flights.”

The agreement marks the first time BWF has partnered with an airline and the first time Xiamen Airlines has sponsored a top sporting event. Xiamen Airlines will receive brand exposure via extensive television coverage of the World Championships in more than 30 countries and to more than 1 billion viewers.

Since 2000, 17 of the 27 editions of World Championships, Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, and Sudirman Cup have been held in Asia, aligning with Xiamen Airlines’ key markets.

Xiamen Airlines has 127 Boeing planes and more than 300 international and domestic flight routes. Having recently purchased six Boeing Dreamliner planes, company will be expanding its international route to Europe, the Americas and Australia.
