October 12, 2014: The winners of the two-legged AFC Champions League final between Western Sydney Wanderers and Al Hilal have a chance to face European champions Real Madrid in the semi-finals of December’s FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco, following Saturday’s draw. Mustapha Fahmy and Oliver Vogt of FIFA conducted the draw in Marrakech.

The 11th FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in Rabat on December 10 with a match between Moghreb Athletic de Tetouan of the host nation and Auckland City. The winning team will progress to a quarter-final against the winner of the CAF Champions League final between AS Vita Club of Congo and ES Setif of Algeria. The winner will then face South American champions San Lorenzo of Argentina, who booked their semi-final spot by winning the Copa Libertadores.

In the other half of the draw, Western Sydney Wanderers or Al Hilal will face CONCACAF Champions League winners Cruz Azul of Mexico in a quarter-final for the right to play Real Madrid, the reigning UEFA Champions League winners. Morocco is hosting the tournament for the second straight year and the final will be held in Marrakech on December 20.

Asia’s representatives will be decided at the upcoming AFC Champions League final, which kicks off at Parramatta Stadium in Sydney on October 25 before the decisive second leg is staged in King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on November 1.

Guangzhou Evergrande, the 2013 AFC Champions League winners, reached the semi-finals of last year’s Club World Cup by beating Egypt’s Al Ahly 2-0, before losing 3-0 to eventual champions Bayern Munich.
