July 16, 2014: Paris Saint-Germain will bring their ‘strongest available team’ to play Kitchee at the Hong Kong Stadium on July 29 as part of the French champions’ first tour of Asia, as reported on www.thestandard.com.hk.

Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the French league’s top goalscorer for a second straight year as PSG retained their title in May – has been named in the squad for the tour, which concludes with the Trophee des Champions clash against French Cup winners Guingamp in Beijing on August 2.

Seven players from this year’s World Cup in Brazil – Uruguay forward Edinson Cavani, France trio Yohan Cabaye, Blaise Matuidi and Lucas Digne, and Italy trio Thiago Motta, Marco Verratti and goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu – have also been included in the squad.

PSG manager Laurent Blanc said: “The match against Kitchee will be important for us to prepare for the Trophee des Champions. We are currently having our pre- season training camp and will have a few practice matches in Austria before flying out to Hong Kong. At the moment, players are working hard to get themselves back to match-fit condition.”

The tour is part of the team’s efforts to reach out to their growing number of fans in Asia. “We hope this trip to Hong Kong and Beijing is the beginning of our close encounter with our fans in Asia,” Blanc said. “I am delighted to have almost all of the first-team players with me on this tour.”
