December 9, 2013: Chinese teenager Lin Xiyu will join famed compatriot Feng Shanshan on the 2014 LPGA Tour after finishing joint ninth in the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in Florida, USA.

American Jaye Marie Green, 19, shot a closing 68 to complete a wire-to-wire win with a 29-under total of 331, a record since the tournament was played over 90 holes from 2004. The top 20 players all earn full cards on next season’s LPGA Tour.

Lee Mi-rim, a two-time winner on the Korean LPGA Tour, shot a closing 69 as the 23-year-old Korean finished runner-up 10 strokes back on 19-under. Lee Seon-hwa, 27, joined her compatriot on next year’s LPGA Tour by finishing sixth on 11-under.

Korean Lee Seon-hwa finished sixth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to join runner-up Lee Mi-rim on next year’s Tour.

The 17-year-old Lin, China’s youngest pro, finished tied for ninth on eight-under after rounds of 69, 71, 73, 69 and 70.

“Overall, I’m happy with my performance this week and would give myself a 90 out of 100,” Lin said. “I’ve been preparing for the LPGA qualifier for a while and although I wasn’t in my best form a week ago, I adjusted myself, and my caddie and I worked very well together this week.

“The qualifier is not easy. It lasts longer than a regular tournament, so you have to be cautious and not make many mistakes. It’s only once a year, so you have to play your best in that week.”

Lin will become only the second Chinese player on the LPGA following Feng, the current World No. 4 who won two titles at the end of this season to add to her major breakthrough at last year’s LPGA Championship.

Lin, who played on this year’s Ladies European Tour, is setting more modest sights as she first seeks to consolidate her place on the world’s top women’s circuit.

“My target next year is, first of all, to keep my LPGA card for the following year. There are some co-sanctioned events between the LPGA and European Tour, so I’ll try to do well at those events and keep my European Tour card.”

Malaysian amateur Kelly Tan Guat Chen finished in a tie for 13th, while Japan’s Haru Nomura, who had partial status on the LPGA in 2011, had to survive a playoff to earn her card.

The 21-year-old Japanese finished in a four-way tie for 19th with Ashleigh Simon of South Africa and Americans Megan McChrystal and Jenny Suh, with Simon winning the playoff before Nomura claimed the last remaining full card.

Twenty-six additional players also earned 2014 LGPA membership and will fall in Category 17. Others who finished tied 49th and below and made the 72-hole cut earned Symetra Tour status.
