October 1, 2014: Defending champion Feng Shanshan and fellow LPGA stars enjoyed a traditional Chinese welcome in Beijing on Tuesday ahead of the second Reignwood LPGA Classic, which tees off on the Nicklaus Course at Pine Valley Golf Club this Thursday.

Feng, the World No. 9, was joined by No. 2 Park In-bee and No. 6 Ryu So-yeon from South Korea, American Brittany Lang and Chinese teenager Lin Xiyu for a photo-call during which they were served Chinese tea, before posing in the courtyard of a traditional Chinese building.

“I had a wonderful tournament last year,” said Feng, 25. “I played so well and won the championship here in the inaugural Reignwood LPGA Classic. Coming here I don’t have any specific expectations, but I do feel a little pressure, of course.”

Last year, Feng eagled the final hole to overtake World No. 1 Stacy Lewis and the American said she was determined to make up for the painful loss.

“Obviously last year didn’t go the way I wanted it to. I played some great golf, but I definitely didn’t handle things the way I wanted to and that’s why I’m back this year,” said the 29-year-old Lewis.

“I kind of want to right the ship a little bit. I never back down from a challenge and that’s why I’m here. More than anything, it’s an opportunity to win. It’s a golf course I played really well on last year and I feel like I’ll have a good shot again this year.”

The first of six straight LPGA events in Asia, the US$2.1 million Reignwood LPGA Classic is a 72-hole, no-cut tournament organised by IMG and offers the largest purse for a women’s event in Asia.
