June 15, 2015: Park In-bee returned to World No. 1 and joined the top-10 list of women’s all-time major winners after capturing her third straight KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Park, 26, was imperious in securing her sixth major – and fifth in 12 majors since the beginning of 2013 – as she regained the No. 1 position from Lydia Ko, after being usurped by the teenager on February 1.

Starting the fourth round with a two-stroke lead, Park never trailed on Sunday as she closed with a five-under-par 68 for a 19-under total and a five-stroke victory over young compatriot Kim Sei-young at Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York.

Tiger Woods (14), Juli Inkster (7) and Karrie Webb (7) are now the only active players on the PGA or LPGA tours to have won more majors.

Park became the sixth player to win the Women’s PGA three times or more. Mickey Wright won a record four times (1958, 1960, 1961, 1963), while Nancy Lopez, Pak Se-ri, Annika Sorenstam and Kathy Whitworth won three times.

Park also matched Sorenstam’s major ‘hat-trick’, the Swede winning LPGA Championship titles at DuPont Country Club in 2003 and 2004, and Bulle Rock Golf Club in 2005.

By securing her sixth career major title, Park is now tied for ninth on the LPGA’s major victories list with Pat Bradley, Betsey King, Patty Sheehan and Kathy Whitworth. The Korean is now the only one of the 13 players to garner at least six major titles who’s not a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Four of Park’s six majors have occurred in the Empire State: 2015 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, 2014 LPGA Championship (Monroe Golf Club, Pittsford), 2013 LPGA Championship (Locust Hill Country Club, Pittsford) and 2013 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship (Sebonack Golf Club, Southampton).

Kim, fourth at the ANA Inspiration, is among three players to have posted top-five finishes in each of the LPGA’s first two majors of the year. ANA Inspiration winner Brittany Lincicome finished fourth at the Women’s PGA, while Morgan Pressel tied for fourth at the ANA Inspiration and shared fifth at the Women’s PGA.
