The Singapore Open was last held in November 2012, when it boasted a US$6 million purse and was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and The European Tour. Australian star Adam Scott won the event a record three times in 2005, 2006 and 2010.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), one of Japan’s leading financial institutions, has signed up as title sponsor with a three-year association with golf in Singapore.
