February 28, 2014: Kim ‘Stun Gun’ Dong-hyun and John ‘The Hitman’ Hathaway both weighed in at 171 pounds at the official weigh-in ahead of Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night Macao, which will double as the finale of The Ultimate Fighter China television series.

Kim and Hathaway will contest an important welterweight battle at The Venetian’s Cotai Arena, as both fighters try to work their way up the ranks to challenge for a world title.

Kim, 32, is the favourite after the Korean’s devastating knockout punch of Erick Silva last October secured a third straight win following only the second loss of his 21-fight career. In contrast, the 26-year-old Hathaway will be fighting for the first time in 18 months after a bout of ulcerative colitis prevented the Englishman taking on Silva last June and stalled his fast rise up the ranks. The Englishman has only lost once in 18 MMA fights.

Saturday’s card features the first UFC heavyweight clash in Asia outside of Japan, as former NFL star Matt Mitrione (6-3) takes on fellow American Shawn Jordan (15-5). The Ultimate Fighter China will conclude with a battle for a UFC contract between welterweights Wang Sai and Zhang Lipeng.

However, the nine-bout card became an eight-bout card as one fight that won’t be taking place is American welterweight Zak Cummings against Hong Kong-based Alberto Mina. Cummings came in a whopping eight pounds over the weight limit. Mina refused the fight, so was awarded the victory and the winner’s purse.

Wang Sai and Zhang Lipeng will fight to win the welterweight class in The Ultimate Fighter China television series and a UFC contract.
