January 28, 2015: Ben Askren’s defence of his One FC welterweight title against Luis Santos is one of the highlights of One FC’s first three events of the year – in Kuala Lumpur on March 13, Manila on April 24 and Singapore on May 22.

One FC kicks off 2015 with Age of Champions at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, where Adriano Moraes defends his flyweight title against Asuka ‘Riku Shibuya’ Mikami of Japan, with Malaysian stars Peter Davis and Ann Osman expected to feature on the card.

Moraes, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, lost a split decision on his One FC debut, but has since wrapped up three submission victories in a row. The 25-year-old Brazilian’s aggressive takedowns, athleticism and submission skills will be needed against Mikami (11-2-2), who will be making his One FC debut.

The 29-year-old Japanese is unbeaten in his last 12 fights, with 10 wins and two draws from August 2009, and his striking skills stem from his experience as a pro kickboxer.

The showdown between Askren (14-0) and Santos (61-9-1) headlines Valor of Champions at the MOA Arena in Manila the following month.

Askren, 30, prised the One FC welterweight belt from Nobutatsu Suzuki with a technical knockout victory in only his second fight with the promotion. The American collegiate wrestling legend is considered one of the world’s best mixed martial artists.

Luis Santos impressed on his One FC debut in Singapore, beating Bakhtiyar Abbasov in 53 seconds.

However, Santos could prove a dangerous opponent, as the battle-hardened Brazilian showed in his 53-second demolition of Bakhtiyar Abbasov in his One FC debut in Singapore last November. The 35-year-old ‘Sapo’, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, has secured over half of his 61 wins by TKO or KO.

Victor Cui, CEO of One FC, said: “We are kicking off 2015 with three spectacular events lined up to start the year. One FC: Age of Champions will see One FC Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes defend his belt against one of the top flyweights to ever come out of Japan, Riku Shibuya.

“One FC: Valor of Champions will witness the return of One FC Welterweight World Champion Ben Askren as he takes on one of the toughest challenges of his career against Luis Santos. Ben Askren is the absolute best in the world and we are excited to see him up against the highly skilled Luis Santos.”

One FC’s third event of the year, Warrior’s Quest, will be held at the 12,000-seater Singapore Indoor Stadium. Jakarta was originally scheduled to host Odyssey of Champions on February 14, but the event will be moved to a later date.
