October 9, 2014: A featherweight clash between Major Overall and Cary Bullos has been added to next month’s One FC: Battle of Lions in Singapore, while Waqar Umar and Adek Omar have been confirmed as opponents for local fighters Amir Khan and debutant Kirstie Gannaway.

In the main event, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion Leandro Ataides will face Igor Svirid of Kazakhstan for the inaugural One FC middleweight title at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 7. Overall is currently riding a three-fight winning streak and returns to Singapore after winning his last fight in May’s One FC: Honor & Glory. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt, the American fighter possesses slick submissions and unorthodox striking skills, but will face an opponent with an impressive record making his One FC debut.

Bullos, the URCC Visayas bantamweight champion, has won seven of his eight fights, with the 31-year-old Filipino stopping his opponents in all of his victories.

Khan, 19, is among the Singapore contenders on the card and will compete at home for the first time after winning his One FC debut in Cambodia last month when he defeated Malaysia’s Jian Kai Chee. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt under Relson Gracie, Khan had an undefeated amateur record competing in the USA and also has wrestling and Muay Thai experience.

The tenacious Umar is well versed in the art of grappling and all three of his victories have been earned through submissions. The Pakistani returns to the One FC roster, where he joins compatriot Bashir Ahmad, who fights in Kuala Lumpur next week.

Gannaway, who in July became the third Singaporean female fighter to sign with One FC, will make her pro MMA debut in front of home fans. Gannaway has competitive Muay Thai experience, eight years of boxing training, and has spent the past year training at Evolve MMA.

Omar, the third Malaysian female fighter to compete in One FC, will also be making her pro MMA debut, after winning an amateur event in her native Johor Bahru last November. Omar comes from a family of martial artists, picked up Muay Thai at a young age and has excelled in national competitions.

Victor Cui, CEO of One FC, said: “One Fighting Championship has acquired a roster of world-class talent from all over the world and fans in Singapore will get to see them in action on November 7.”
