Swimming: Sun Yang, Ledecky stars of the show in Kazan

August 10, 2015: Sun Yang of China and Katie Ledecky of the USA were the best swimmers of the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan after the completion of the eight days of competition. Sun shone with two world titles and a silver medal, while Ledecky collected five golds and three world records.
The United States team won the Team Trophy after topping of the medals table with eight gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals, for a total of 23 podium finishes.
Australia, China and Great Britain were the next ranked countries in the table with 16, 13 and nine awards respectively. In a medal chart with 23 countries, new entries included Singapore, Jamaica and Argentina.
As well as Sun and Ledecky, other stars to excel in the Kazan Arena included Bronte Campbell and Mitchell Larkin of Australia, Florent Manaudou and Camille Lacourt of France, and Adam Peaty and James Guy of Great Britain.
Other multiple medallists included Ryan Lochte (USA), Katinka Hosszu (Hungary), Gregorio Paltrinieri (Italy), Alia Atkinson (Jamaica), Lauren Boyle (New Zealand), Cameron van der Burgh (South Africa), Yulia Efimova (Russia) and Sarah Sjostrom (Sweden).
