January 21, 2015: This year’s GAC Group ITTF World Tour is set to be the most lucrative of all time, with the ITTF announcing that a record US$3 million in prize money will be on offer.

Kicking off in Hungary on January 28, the circuit will be made up of a record 23 events in 23 countries, with new stops in including North Korea and Bulgaria. The three most active players on the World Tour will share a bonus award of US$39,000 above the prize money they earn.

Judit Farago, CEO of ITTF, said: “With the support of our title sponsor GAC Group, the Tour offers more prize money than ever – exactly US$3 million, an increase of US$240,000.

“We are happy that again five continents are included in the series and are looking forward with great excitement to the start of the Tour next week in Hungary where last year’s event participation record will be broken immediately with 360 entries.”

This year’s World Tour will also be the most viewed in history, with more events shown live throughout the world on television and all the events being shown live on ITTF’s live streaming platform, itTV.

Like last year, the events will be split into three tiers, from six Super events sitting above six Major events, supported by 11 Challenge events.

The top 16 singles and top eight doubles pairs on the World Tour points standing will be invited to the prestigious Grand Finals, with the venue and date to be confirmed.
