Tennis: Agassi, Ivanovic, Monfils in Rally for Hope fundraiser

November 27, 2014: Andre Agassi, winner of 60 men’s singles titles, will participate in the DBS Singapore Slammers Rally for Hope charity fundraising initiative at the Winchester Tennis Arena on December 3, the second day of the Singapore leg of the inaugural Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL).

 

World No. 18 Gael Monfils and women’s World No. 5 Ana Ivanovic, who will both represent Micromax Indian Aces in the IPTL, will also take part in the fundraiser with Agassi, the 44-year-old former World No. 1 who will play for the DBS Singapore Slammers.

 

Members of the public will get a chance to rally with the players when they pledge to donate a minimum of S$100 to the Rainbow Centre. The highest 120 pledges will then be invited to make their donation prior to their rally with Agassi, Monfils or Ivanovic, which will take place from 11.00am to 12.30pm. Invited donors will also receive a Kiehl’s Goodie Bag worth S$50.

The DBS Singapore Slammers are among four Asia-based franchises competing in the IPTL. The tournament will feature a total of 21 Grand Slam champions and 14 current and former World No. 1s, including Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. The winning team will receive US$1 million.

 

The Singapore leg will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from December 2-4. Spectators will get to watch 24 players from four teams compete over three days, with two three-hour match segments each day starting at 4pm and 7.30 pm respectively.

 

To make a pledge to Rally for Hope, members of the public can email: rallyforhope@tagtennis.sg with their name, contact number, pledge amount and the name of the champion they wish to rally with.
