The WTA – which will hold its WTA Finals in Singapore (pictured) from 2014-2018 – has signed a 10-year partnership with digital sports media company Perform to produce expanded coverage of the women’s tennis circuit.

December 10, 2014: The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has signed a groundbreaking, 10-year media agreement of more than US$525 million with digital sports media company Perform, its incumbent partner.

Building on an existing four-year arrangement between the WTA and Perform from 2013 to 2016, the new, extended partnership is the largest live media rights and production venture in the history of women’s sport, according to the WTA.

Under the new agreement, WTA Media, a joint-venture, will deliver all main-draw singles matches and the semi-finals and finals of all doubles matches for every WTA event from 2017 across linear, digital and over-the-top (OTT) platforms. WTA Media will also produce news content, magazine shows and other off-court content.

Stacey Allaster, Chairman and CEO of the WTA, said: “Our new broadcast strategy to produce all 2,000 main-draw singles matches in partnership with Perform will deliver exponential global exposure for our players, tournaments and partners. Perform’s unprecedented investment in the WTA signals a new era, not only for women’s tennis but also for women’s professional sports the world around.”

Simon Denyer, Joint-CEO of Perform, said: “This deal delivers maximum exposure to the WTA’s global fans on multiple platforms. This is a groundbreaking and innovative partnership with the WTA and is also a major first step in a significant 10-year growth plan for Perform.”
